You will be surprised how smoothly your taxes can become

Summary steps

1. Let’s start with you sending me a brief summary of your situation.
This allows you to tell me about yourself and your circumstance and I’ll review your details in full.

2. I will then reply to you by email or phone to discuss in more detail.
After reviewing your details we’ll need to talk confidentially to discuss the best way forward.

3. Then I send your tax return and papers ready for HMRC submission.
All forms & correspondence are packaged in .pdf so they can be easily emailed and approved by you.

4. As soon as you give me your approval, your tax return can be submitted electronically.
I will receive immediate confirmation from HMRC to let us know that your return has been received safely.

What next?

Detailed steps for a typical tax return preparation and completion.

On request, I will send you my ‘getting started’ pack in a printable format containing all the information needed to start work on your tax return. This first pack you will need to post back to me as it contains important forms. In future years you can use email or post.

On receipt, I will review the information and start preparing your tax return or advice as appropriate. If along the way I have questions or queries, I will email these to you for your clarification.

Once I have completed my work, I will send you a copy of the completed return with advice for your information and approval. When you are happy with the details, let me know and I will submit the form on your behalf to HM Revenue & Customs.

If you are due a tax refund, this is normally issued immediately on receipt of your processed form straight into your bank account within a few days.

If you are due to pay tax, I will advise on the amounts and the due date.

This is a straightforward process and I offer a fast turnaround to save you both time and money.

I like to work as electronically as possible to keep administration to a minimum. This means exchanging our correspondence by email and by .pdf letter. By working this way it speeds up our communication and allows me to better respond and manage your affairs. Of course, if you prefer to write you are welcome to do so.

As soon as my work is complete you receive it immediately in your inbox rather than waiting for the post to arrive. This has proved exceptionally important when I work with clients in distant countries and on tight deadlines.

Remember, it only takes a few seconds to let me know you might be interested and I will be delighted to talk briefly with you over the phone or by email. If you are a little unsure, simply use this opportunity for a FREE initial assessment of your situation.

By completing your tax return electronically, it enables us to take advantage of ‘Filing by Internet’ with the UK HM Revenue & Customs to speed up your tax return processing and means that refunds are issued sooner. In extreme cases it allows your late tax return to be filed in minutes rather than risk being lost in the post across the world.

Clients I work with are currently based in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Russia, Azerbaijan, UAE Dubai, Iraq, Italy, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, France, England, Scotland, Eire, Wales, Spain, Malta, South Africa, United States and Canada.

I am able to provide most cross border tax residency advice. I can help advise on tax returns for other countries but not speaking the native language I tend to suggest liaising with a local professional. This allows me to help with the strategic approach and guide your local adviser to prepare the tax return to achieve the tax effect that we expected.

My attention to detail is evidenced by a successful track record with the HM Revenue & Customs as my clients affairs have never been subject to mistakes in HMRC enquiries and I work to keep it that way.

Clients include those working in the construction industry as well as higher rate tax paying employees and expatriates.

My service is a FULL SERVICE and not reduced in any way. You can read about what is included on my page about prices and this covers most UK income tax returns and the associated estimate work with advice and computations for a tax year, preparing your electronic tax forms and paperwork and communicating with the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on your behalf.

For additional or specific advice I charge per hour. Although most straightforward advice is covered in my fee, additional more detailed advice bespoke to your situation takes 1-2 hours and will result in a letter from me setting out my expert advice. We’ll discuss what you need and I’ll estimate my time and quote you the fixed price so you don’t need to be concerned that time will be spent over and above what you expect. Many expat clients use this as an opportunity to request a 2nd opinion on other advice you may have received.

If you are like most clients, self-managing your Inland Revenue or HMRC tax UK affairs is a burden and a worry, it is my job to take away these concerns and deal with your tax return professionally and seamlessly.
